UFO means ‘unidentified flying object’. If you don’t know what it is, that makes it a UFO to you. But not to someone who does know what it is. And it’s not aliens.

what you have confused the great David you will feel his might.
But yep if you don’t know what it is and its flying it be a UFO
It’s unidentified, so it’s a UFO. That doesn’t make it aliens. It makes you ignorant of sky phenomena. If you want to identify it, take astronomy and meteorology classes.
So if you see a tree and identify it as a tree, it is not really a tree, unless it actually is a tree. Or is it? Or isn’t it? Or is or isn’t it?
Why is an elephant?

i think i see what you are getting at.
you are claiming the the term “UFO” is an identification in and of itself.
pedantics and semantics aside, everyone above me is right with their answer.
A UFO is an Unidentified Flying Object. That doesn’t necessarily mean that it is a spaceship. It is an object flying in the sky that you are not able to identify. Unless or until you identify it, it remains a UFO. LOOK, up in the sky, it’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Supermannnn!
Just because we classify something as an Unidentified Flying Object doesn’t mean it’s no longer called a UFO. The object is still unidentified, flying, and an object. It may be classified as a UFO, but classified is different from identified.
UFO originally meant “unidentified flying object”.
So if something is flying and you don’t know what it is, its a UFO.
But in the 1950’s, UFO came to be associated solely with “alien spacecraft piloted by extraterrestrial intelligent beings”.
That means that they are no longer UFOs – they have been “identified” as alien spaceships, so they are IFO (Identified Flying Objects).
So you can’t win with the acronym UFO – to some it means an alien spaceship, to scientists it means an unidentified flying object (which could end up being identified as a plane or a balloon or a flock of geese or a sundog or anything).
a ufo can be anything, like a plane or jet that you just dont recognize
ufo’s exsist, alien spacecrafts do not
