   Ever since I went to the Hayden Planetarium as a kid and was told that based on the vast number of stars and vast number of planets, there HAD to be other life-forms out there, I’ve been hooked, and will still watch almost anything on the subject which seems plausible.

   This lengthy and chilling compilation of lecture material doesn’t disappoint. Mind-numbing in length–some 8 hours–much of it is nevertheless compelling stuff. I found the thirty minute eye-witness account of Peter Khoury to be the most convincing, and the connection between paranormal activity and UFOs to be the least.

   There are two and a half hours of lectures by Lloyd Pye, who goes out on a limb to declare that we, as humans, are in fact domesticated animals, genetically engineered by a super-race not of this Earth. His thesis nicely explains a host of evolutionary anomalies, but my hunch is there may be other, less exotic reasons which science will eventually discover. Watch for the tie-in with Bigfoot–I have to admit it just makes sense.

   I have to admit I am pretty skeptical when it comes to conspiracy theories regarding aliens and UFOs. My skepticism is rooted mostly in my being freaked out as a child by an episode of “Unsolved Mysteries,” in which someone recounted their experience being abducted, poked and prodded at by aliens. As I have gotten older, I have come to consider these stories more conspiratorial and lacking facts.

   However, this comprehensive three disc set, containing more than eight hours of alien abduction stories and in-depth lectures about the existence of aliens proved convincing for me. It took a few days for me to get through the discs, what with so much content to watch, but once I got started it was hard to turn away from. I was definitely more drawn to the personal stories of alien abductions than the lecture material, although the lectures were very interesting. Also, some of the theories were a little hard to digest as believable but never the less they are at least thought provoking.

   How did I become fascinated with Aliens? When I was a young girl standing in line at the supermarket with my mother I happened to see the cover of the Weekly World News. In it a boy claimed to have found a dead alien while playing on the beach one day. He went into great detail as to what the being looked like. Being young and impressionable, I’ve been hooked on these visitors from outer space ever since.

   What a treat to dig into this three DVD set of Aliens and Close Encounters. This 8 hour alien-extravaganza leaves no stone unturned as it covers:

   I couldn’t watch it all at once, but chose one DVD at a time on my days off. I’d make some popcorn and settle in. For any alien and UFO enthusiast, you couldn’t ask for more. From lectures and eye-witness accounts, to photos and videos, I found this series to be everything I hoped it would be. I especially like Alien Origins since I’m a big Erich Von Daniken fan, and have been for decades.

   Are humans descendants of these highly intelligent beings? Do they visit on a regular basis? Are they keeping eye on “the chosen few”? Are they good aliens or bad aliens? The viewer will have do decide for her/himself, but the fact remains that there has to be life beyond our planet. For the die-hard alien/UFO fan, this set is a must!
