An entire book can be devoted to the phenomenon of alien abductions that have been recorded across many countries at different times. A study conducted by Dr. John Mack and published in the Harvard University Gazette concluded that the abduction from 800 cases were made by mentally stable persons across vast segments of the population with no signs of delusion or any chronic tendency to lie and fabricate stories, much less any sign of mental illness.

His conclusion is not unique as studies conducted by other respected psychologists and psychiatrists revealed no aberrant mental health conditions in the people claiming to have been abducted by aliens.

Could they be telling the truth? And what was the motivation? Coincidence over thousands of cases? It had to be more than that.

Abductors were aliens though of varying types described ay humanoid reptiles, greys, non-distinguishable human form and energy beings.

There’s no demographic concentration even as aliens prefer younger people below the age of 40 as most abduction have a reproductive focus that are considered healthier at a younger age. There have been similar reports from children.

The abduction generally describe a sequence of events starting from being captured and forcibly taken into an alien space craft, intensive and often invasive medical and physical examination conducted by aliens, a conference with the abductors, a loss of time perceptive, return to the place where they were abducted and an aftermath consisting of a profound awareness of the universe and the supernatural coupled with some post traumatic coping with the experience from a social perspective as loved ones seldom believe their stories.

What makes the phenomenon arresting is that most alien abductees revealed fascinating details under hypnosis that would not be possible if the revelation were concocted or fabricated under a conscious state of mind.

The precise number of abductees may never be ascertained as many prefer to remain silent of their experience. There have been about 1,700 abduction claims since it was documented in the 50s. The most famous was the Antonio Villas Boas case in 1957 and the Hill Abduction of 1961 which were the first “canonical” cases that established the template for later abduction cases that would rarely deviate from it. Since then, the phenomenon has gained widespread interest with a TV film Betty and Barney Hill Abduction in 1975.

For sure, as there are believers and people with an open mind about the phenomenon, there are skeptics who consider abductees as suffering from some temporary psychological disturbance like schizophrenia, parasomnia or epileptic seizure.

Others attribute the commonality of abducted cases with previous similar abductions from devils and demons common throughout history when spaceships never figured in the pop culture consciousness of their times. The central abduction elements are there with just the abductor personality changed. Abductions seem to see no end in sight prompting government agencies to start looking for intelligent life in the universe with giant antennas.

Ever wonder what an alien craft might look like inside? If the if the
information collected by Temple University historian David Jacobs is
correct, it may now be possible to know. After interviewing 50 UFO
abductees who say they have been whisked off some 275 times, Jacobs has
pieced together a picture of what’s under the dome.

It’s incomplete, says Jacobs, because the atmosphere aboard a UFO is
all business and no one is offered a guided tour. Abductees are there
for a physical exam, he says, and they only see as much of the craft as
is neccessary to get the job done. That’s why they invariably describe
spartan, efficient, and sterile surroundings with virtually no luxury
features at all.

These are clinical-looking rooms with domed ceilings, skylightlike
windows, and gray or white walls, Jacobs explains. And the aliens are
good housekeepers. “It is clean and neat. We have had some cases where
people vomited and it was cleaned up immediately.”

Despite these broad similarities, Jacobs adds, there are at least two
types of craft, “with the typical large UFO checking in at about two
hundred feet in diameter and its smaller cousin at about thirty-five
feet. If the craft is on the ground, abductees climb a staircase that
is lowered from the object. But if the vessel is hovering, they are
floated up.”

Accidental tourists find themselves in a hallway with metallic walls
that are usually bare but sometimes contain a floor-to-ceiling window.
Usually they are ushered along a curved corrider, which gives them the
feeling that they are walking around the perimeter of the ship,
although no one makes a complete loop, says Jacobs. Eventually they are
led to the vessel’s center, the “medical arena,” where unpleasant
physical examinations occur.

Virtually all medical zones are illuminated by a mysterious light
source that abductees cannot locate, Jacobs says. But they have
pinpointed the position of voluminous medical equipment–attached to
walls and ceilings, in drawers, or on rolling carts. As for the
examination table, Jacobs says, it’s generally “hard with very little
give,” and contains lighted, armlike devices snaking up from its sides.

In many cases, Jacobs notes, the examination room resembles the hub
of a wheel. The spokes, or hallways, lead from the hub to other
chambers, revealed only to some abductees after the exam. Also
circular, with domed ceilings, white or gray walls, and built-in
benches, some of these seem to be “visiting rooms” in which human-alien
hybrid babies are touched, held, or viewed.

Finally, abductees may pass through a control room that sounds
nothing like the bridge of the starship ENTERPRISE. There is a console
with lights, an unpadded seat, and no windows.

While all this is fascinating, equally interesting is what abductees
don’t report, Jacobs says. His witnesses are remarkably consistent in
not describing living areas and other details expected to pop up in
fabricated or imagined accounts. “Of course,” Jacobs says, “that

Note: In the following report, the term “alien(s)” is used generically
to denote the abducting entities, and does not presuppose an
extraterrestrial origin.

In late summer of 1992, Derrel Sims, chief abductions investigator for
HUFON (Houston UFO Network) implemented a plan to establish
communications with alien abductors. This was to be accomplished by
means of hypnotic suggestions implanted in the subconscious minds of
several subjects with multiple abduction histories. The intent being,
if any of these subjects were abducted again, the hypnotic
suggestions would allow the individuals to gather data and/or
establish more positive contact with the aliens.

In November of 1992, subject DS92007PH was abducted. The subject
maintained conscious memory for a fair amount of time into the
abduction before the aliens were able to “zap” the subject (place the
subject in a mental state where they no longer have conscious
memories of the event). At the beginning of the abduction, the
subject was able to communicate with the aliens, although they did
not appear to be terribly inclined to communicate or reveal much
information. As the aliens were completing their preparations for
their examination, the subject felt herself losing mental control.
The aliens began to reinforce their efforts to “zap” her. In one
last effort to maintain consciousness and communication as long as
possible she blurted out “We know what your doing… we know
about…” (subject still under investigation). This statement
seemed to evoke a reaction on the part of the aliens and appears to
have predicated the events that follow.

Starting December 8, 1992, just prior to the HUFON meeting “Alien
Abductions: Working with Abductees,” several of the subjects on the
panel were reabducted. These abductions were not realized at the
time, but over the next few days, many of the abductees began
suffering PAS (Post Abduction Syndrome). At this time the abductees
were not in communication with each other.

Subject DS92002DM reported that he had experienced a dream or
possible flashback of an earlier abduction When he began having PAS
and other physical manifestations that accompanied his earlier
abductions, it became obvious to him that an abduction had taken
place.

Subjects DM92003JA, DS92034LC & DS92017RP also reported dreams with
possible abduction signs. In addition a number of the abductees
reported having nose bleeds and/or sinus pains.

On Thursday, December 10th, at the monthly HUFON meeting, a number
of the abductees were questioned by the audience about their
experiences. Although most of the abductees were very uncomfortable
and felt that they “…shouldn’t be talking about (their) abductions,”
the meeting went quite well.

On Friday morning, December 11, many of the abductees (most of whom
were on the panel the night before), awoke to find they had nose
bleeds during the night. Almost all had sinus pains and within a
day or two almost all had head colds and flu like symptoms.

Subject DS92009LT awoke on the 11th with an irritation in one eye.
While rubbing her eye, a small object (about the size of a mustard
seed) came out of her eye. The subject called Derrel Sims and
turned the object over to him.

This object has been photographed and is currently undergoing
analysis. The object appears to be made out of a flesh-colored
plastic. It is somewhat egg-shaped (with the narrow end open) and
is hollow inside.

On the same day, subject DS92002DM awoke to discover he had a nose
bleed (the first in over 20 years). He also called Derrel Sims to make
immediate arrangements for a hypnosis session. On Sunday, December
20, 1992, DS92002DM was regressed hypnotically to his latest
encounter with aliens.

The event occurred the night of December 10, the night of the HUFON
meeting. Some time after the subject went to sleep for the night, he
was awakened by aliens in his bedroom who, in a very quick
procedure, removed a nasal implant from the subject and immediately
left (later under hypnosis a number of other abductees reported
similar events). Mr. Sims then regressed the subject to the next
earliest abduction (December 8).

On December 8, subject DS92002DM awoke and observed a bright flash
of light (there was no sound of thunder following). The subject rolled
over and noticed a small gray alien “wearing a harness/utility
belt.” The subject was instructed to follow the alien outside,
where a blue/white light was shining on a spot on the ground. The
subject was instructed to stand in the light, and an instant later,
found himself in a large circular room (about the size of a high
school gymnasium).

The subject was instructed to disrobe and led out of the room and
through a series of corridors and passageways. Part of the time they
walked but mostly they were transported by a means unknown by the
subject (floated or on a conveyor).

Eventually, they arrived at a small room where several other aliens
were present. A quick physical examination was given and then a
human- appearing individual entered the room (the subject in prior
abductions had never encountered a human). The human asked several
questions as to how/why the abductee knew he had been abducted
before. The subject was also asked how abductees knew/found out
about other abductees and why were they meeting together.

A model of the human brain was shown to the subject and he was asked
to indicate where the “subconscious mind was located.” When the
subject was unable to indicate a location, he received a mental image
of another abductee (DS92007PH) in a state of suspended animation
and had the impression she was being asked the same questions. The
human then left the room and the subject was moved to another room.

This room appeared to be some type of meeting or conference room. It
also was round, but the lighting and the furnishings were quite
different. A number of different alien life forms entered the room,
the last being the one with human appearance. The small grey
aliens left the room but two of the taller brown aliens stayed.
(The description of the other life forms is being withheld pending
further investigation).

The subject was again questioned as to the nature of the subconscious
mind and to his knowledge of his abductions and other abductees.
After each question the subject received images of other abductees.
He could see them in a room together. They were all nude and seemed
to be unaware of the presence of each other. Each seemed to be in a
halucinative state and behaved as if acting out a part.

He sensed that the other abductees were being “accessed” by the
aliens by some means and were being asked many of the same questions
as himself. The subject also sensed DS92007PH, who was in a
different location from himself and from the other abductees. He
could “feel” the aliens trying to “access” her mind to retrieve
information. A debate seemed to be taking place among the aliens as
to whether the “experiment/project” should be allowed to continue or
if it had been compromised by the recent events (abductees knowing
of their abductions and meeting together).

Accusations were made about “improper procedures being followed by
the “Grays” and “Browns.” At one point, when DS92002DM “sensed/saw”
the other abductees as they were being accessed by the aliens, he
had the thought that the other abductees “don’t know there are
others there.”

This thought caught the attention of the human who seemed surprised
that the subject was picking up on their activities. Immediately, two
“Grays” entered the room and took hold of the subject’s hands and he
was unable to “pick up anything further of the alien thoughts or
questioning.”

At this point another of Derrel Sims’ hypnotic suggestions activated
itself with the subject with interesting results which we are unable
to report at this time as further investigation and experimentation
are continuing.

One of the more interesting aspects of this case, and one which is
being looked into further, pertains to a question asked of subject
DS92002DM by the aliens. At one point he was asked what he knew
about a government project called “Project Prometheus.” Although
the subject had no knowledge of such a project, we are researching
the matter.

As the meeting seemed to be ending, the human asked the subject what
he “would like to do,” to which the subject responded that he would
like to go with them (a suggestion even he finds bizarre). The
subject was told that this was “impossible” as he was “contaminated”
(the subject did not feel this implied physically).

The human then took him into a side room where he was shown a
“strange sort of chart or diagram” which he did not understand and was
unlike any he’d ever seen before. He then was led by the two
“Browns” through several other rooms to another examination
room/laboratory where a nasal implant was placed in his nostril (the
one later removed). The subject was then given his pajamas, told to
dress, and returned to his home and bed.

Subjects DS92009LT and DM92003JA were also hypnotized and reported
being abducted on December 8, and being in a room with others.

Subject DS92034LC had conscious memories of being in the room on
that night.

All three of these subjects have independently described the room, its
appearance, and individuals in the room. All of the subjects’
descriptions are similar and details of the room match–including
several unique aspects unheard of in other cases.

It is interesting to note that all of the abductees in the “group room
experiences” perceived events differently although parallel. One
believed she had died and was with her dead brother (who had strange
eyes). One thought she was with God whose face she couldn’t see
because of a fog that only allowed her to see his shape. All of the
individuals reported themselves and others in the room as being nude.

One abductee who felt hungry was told they would be fed was handed
silverware as though they were about to be served food. When she
was told to look at the silverware under hypnosis, it was not
silverware at all but some strange objects she could not identify.

Each of the abductees in the “group room experience” seemed to be in
a drugged or hallucinative state. This condition seemed to alleviate
when they were taken to another room for examinations and nasal and
ocular implants.

Other abductees also have reported supporting events and experiences.
The total number of abductees involved in the event is not known for
sure.

Great care was taken in the early stages of the investigation to
ensure that subjects were unaware of the others’ events. It was only
after hypnosis, with similar descriptions of events and locations by
five different individuals (each unaware of any other abductee
reporting anything) that information concerning the event was
released. Numerous descriptions and minute details have been
deliberately left out of this report, as investigations are still
ongoing.

The significance of this event cannot be overlooked. It would appear
that the implants were deliberately placed in the abductees before the
HUFON meeting and removed the day after. Whether the aliens knew
about the meeting or had simply implanted the abductees with the
intent of monitoring a gathering of abductees is unknown. However,
for the first time within the history of the abduction phenomenon,
the abductees seem to have captured the attention of the abductors.

Although we do not know the outcome of these events we hope that it
may lead to a breakthrough in communication, improvement in
relationship with the aliens, and an end to abductions and
experimentation on unwilling subjects.

Houston Mass Abduction Update

Since issuing the report on the December 8, 1992, Houston mass
abductions, more things have come to light. The reports were barely
printed when DS92002DM received a phone call from an individual who
we’ll call Bill (not his real name). This individual had been with
DS92002DM on the abduction that caused DS92002DM to become aware of
his abductions (a missing time event). Three years had passed before
he found out about the event and Bill had moved away with out leaving
a forwarding address shortly after the abduction. DS92002DM was
surprised by the call, Bill said he had been thinking about DS92002DM
and the trip they had taken. He related the events of the trip and
mentioned the “strange blue light” seen by the subjects just before
the abduction took place. DS92002DM asked the subject what was the
next event he could remember and the subject responded with an event
three hours later. When DS92002DM asked Bill if he remembered
anything at all of the road between the point where they saw the blue
light and the location hundreds of miles later, Bill began to laugh
nervously. When DS92002DM started to relate events as revealed
during his hypnosis session, Bill became hysterical and did not want
to discuss the event further. Bill also related that he had been
feeling depressed and lethargic “…since Christmas.”

On March 15, 1993, DS92002DM met with subject DS92021SM whom he
had not seen in several months. DS92021SM currently lives in the
western part of the state and only comes to Houston rarely. He is
also the individual who witnessed DS92002DM’s abduction in June of
1992 and saw the aliens taking him away. It is because of this and
his having been processed earlier concerning the June event that the
subject has a case number (video tapes on file with investigators).
DS92021SM was unaware of eventsconcerning the mass abduction, (he is
not a member of HUFON or any UFO organization and has had little
interest in the subject prior to recent events). DS92021SM related
to DS92002DM and to two investigators that he believed he had seen a
alien in his room “…early to mid-December, not sure of date,” and
that after that he suffered symptoms similar to those he had in June
after DS92002DM’s abduction (Post Abduction Syndrome). The subject
related that he also discovered several needle marks “… in a line
above his navel” about the same time.

Subject DS92007PH, who was in the December abduction, has also
reported having needle marks both prior to and after the December 8th
abductions.

Subject DS92003JA, who was involved in the December abduction
visited her sister who lives in a neighboring state. Both she and her
sister have reported being abducted as children. According to
DS92003JA her sister has made statements that would indicate that she
was abducted on or about the time of the December 8th event.

What does this all mean? Based on the statements of the
abductees in the December 8th event we know the aliens were concerned
about how abductees knew/found out about their abductions. There
were indications that the aliens were investigating their own
procedures for flaws and indications were made that they were
reviewing their procedures. If this is true, individuals present
during the abductions of the subjects in the December 8th event may
have also been abducted for questioning. This may have occurred on
December 8th, or shortly thereafter. We do know that there are
several persons reported by subjects in the December 8th event that
have not been identified. We still have several subjects who may
have been associated with the December 8th event that have not been
processed. Bill’s call may have been prompted by memories
stimulated when he may have also been picked up and questioned in
December. Similar events may be true also for DS92021SM and
DS92003JAs’ sister. It has become obvious that the investigations of
the December 8th event may have only begun.

Project Prometheus: Subtle Hint or Threat to the Aliens?

Since learning the details of the mass abduction of December 8, 1992,
we have been seeking any information that could lead us to further
details concerning the nature of a “Project Prometheus.” During the
mass abduction, at least two of the abductees were asked by the
abducting entities what they knew about “Project Prometheus.” At
that time, none of us, abductees or investigators, had ever heard of
it.

Shortly before the publication of “The Abduction Event of December 8,
1992″ (released in March, 1993), we learned that a “Project
Prometheus” had been proposed to the U.S. government some time in the
past. No date was indicated when this proposal was made, who chaired
the proposal or the branch of the government it was related to. The
sketchy details available about this project concerned acquiring
advanced technology (from alien sources?) by any means possible.
Though the term “alien” was not used in the description, indications
were clearly made with references to advanced flight capabilities of
UFOs.

Armed with this tidbit of information we falsely assumed more would
follow in short order. It did not. Then on March 15, 1993, a book
was found in storage at the Houston Public Library titled The
Prometheus Project. The book was written in 1968 by Gerald
Feinberg, Ph.D. Although the book was in storage (not out on the
shelves) it was still available to be checked out.

Well, it wasn’t what we thought. Not that the book doesn’t relate to
things pertaining to possible alien interests, it does. It’s just that
we expected something more covert. Project Prometheus, as put forth
by Dr.Feinberg, is a project proposed by a group of scientists to
determine long range goals for the human race. One of these long
range goals would be the “…spread of the human race beyond the
confines of earth to other stellar systems, either for exploration
or for eventual inhabitation of them.” Other goals include changing
our own environment, bioengineering, life extension, and greater
insight as to the nature of things.

Then several weeks later in a discussion with a retired navy officer,
I inquired if he had ever heard of a Project Prometheus. He replied
that he had and related that in the early 1970s he was a navy
commander working in the Pentagon on a project for the early warning
system. Much of this equipment was installed in Alaska and was used
to detect a early aerial attack from the former Soviet Union. The
portion he was involved with was a submarine detection system
installed between England and Iceland to monitor marine traffic
coming out of the Norwegian Sea. While working on this project, he
learned that certain types of alerts were to be reported to Project
Prometheus. He inquired of his commanding officer as to what Project
Prometheus was and was informed “It’s a skunk works. I wouldn’t ask
about it anymore if I were you.” (A “skunk works” is an insider’s
term for a secret project).

We have also received information that there exists in a book titled
Teller’s War a reference to a Project Prometheus. According to this
book, Project Prometheus was associated with the Star Wars program
and was developing a weapon that fired nuclear projectiles to shoot
down and/or cripple satellites or space craft. One can see how the
aliens would be interested in such a project.

Which of the two Projects Prometheus are the aliens interested in?
One government project to obtain alien technology by hook or by
crook, or one set forth by scientists to advance the human race?
Subject DS92002DM from the December mass abduction leans toward a
government project, while information retrieved from DS92007PH leans
toward one that is designed to advance the human race. Neither were
aware of either project before the December event. DS92007PH’s
description of Project Prometheus is very similar to that in Dr.
Feinberg’s book, however DS92007PH thought the project was alien
initiated. DS92002DM felt the implication was clear in his
communication that the project was a government operation.

In either case, one can easilysee why the aliens would be interested.
In the meantime we are left with more questions. Which project were
they referring to — Dr. Feinberg’s; the government‘s; or both?
Were they trying to tell us something by asking the question? Or
were they throwing us a curve to lead us off on a wild goose chase?
Certainly we will be digging into this unusual situation further.

UFO’s – not just seen them, seen inside them. Jacobs has produced
what many call the first scholarly study of the abduction
phenomenon, pouring over 300 terrifying stories for his new book
Secret Life: Firsthand Accounts of UFO Abductions, just out from
Simon and Schuster. And David Jacobs joins us in Washington.
Why do you believe all this?
DAVID JACOBS, Author, `Secret Life’: Well, even though it
sounds incredible, as a historian you have to go where the evidence
leads you, even though you may not like going there. And in my
opinion, the evidence suggests that this is something that should
be taken seriously.
KING: A common occurrence?
Mr. JACOBS: Extremely common occurrence, far more common than
even I would like to see.
KING: What is the general scenario?
Mr. JACOBS: Well, the general scenario is that a person is
taken from the normal environment. They are taken onboard an
object – a UFO. Their clothes are removed. They’re placed on a
table. There’s a series of physical, mental, and reproductive
procedures that are performed upon them and then they are put back
in their normal place and made to forget about what happened within
minutes or even seconds after it’s happened.
KING: This has been going on, David, for how long?
Mr. JACOBS: Well, we’re limited by the age of the people who
come to see us to see how far back it goes, but we think it goes
back to the 20′s and perhaps to the turn of the century, although
perhaps on a much smaller scale.
KING: You’re a serious professor of history.
Mr. JACOBS: Yes.
KING: You’ve conducted interviews with all of these people?
Mr. JACOBS: Yes.
KING: Is any one of them well known?
Mr. JACOBS: There are some well-known people that I and other
colleagues have worked with, but they have requested anonymity and-
KING: Why?
Mr. JACOBS: -and I won’t betray that.
KING: Do you know why?
Mr. JACOBS: Yes, because-
KING: Because I’m going to tell you the truth. If it happened
to me tonight, I’d call you tomorrow, David.
Mr. JACOBS: Well- {Laughs

KING: I would.
Mr. JACOBS: Some people would do that. Those people have not
come forward yet but, of course, the subject is so absolutely crazy
in a way that you can’t make these kinds of assertions – you can’t
say, `This might have happened to me,’ and expect to be treated in
the same way ever again, basically.
KING: Is Whitley Strieber a good example?
Mr. JACOBS: Well, Whitley Strieber is a person who did come
forward with his experiences and he is a writer, of course, and was
successful in talking about them. His examples sometimes fit what
we know and sometimes they don’t fit what we know.
KING: What are they studying, David?
Mr. JACOBS: Well, we don’t actually see a study.
KING: They’re undressing people and looking at their bodies?
Mr. JACOBS: Right.
KING: What- What-
Mr. JACOBS: I wish it was a study. I wish we did see a study.
But we see a sort of a program that is based on, in a sense, a
physiological exploitation – an agenda, in a sense, that has us as-
has people as victims, in a way, or, as the abductees say, as
simply lab rats or specimens.
KING: Guinea pigs. Experiments?
Mr. JACOBS: Yes.
KING: What kind of experiments?
Mr. JACOBS: Well, it’s not really experiments. Once again,
it’s more of a program that involves taking sperm and eggs and-
KING: They get involved sexually?
Mr. JACOBS: Well, no, not necessarily sexually – more
reproductively. We see quite a lot of gynecological and urological
procedures performed. But we do see people who claim that every
once in a while an egg is not being collected. They’ll say this
time there might be something being implanted in them.
KING: Do they speak – the aliens?
Mr. JACOBS: Well, all of the conversation is telepathic, which
is an oddity because if this were simply made up, if this were just
invented, a large percentage of those would most likely be just
regular verbal communication. But virtually all of the abductees
say that it is telepathic.
KING: Now are you saying that you might talk to `John Jones’ in
Philadelphia, `Wilma Smith’ in Des Moines, and `Sarah Smidlock’ in
San Diego, and they’ll all give you similar stories, despite not
knowing each other?
Mr. JACOBS: That’s correct. It’s sort of all over the place.
It’s white and black. It’s Jewish and gentile. It’s across ethnic
groups. It doesn’t matter, the educational level or the economic
level or the geography.
KING: But it’s not leaders of industry, leaders of government,
famous people, celebrated people, major accomplished people? Why
not?
Mr. JACOBS: It is everybody.
KING: All those?
Mr. JACOBS: It is all those.
KING: All of the above?
Mr. JACOBS: Yes, it is-
KING: And none of them will come- not one of these famous
people?
Mr. JACOBS: So far, not one has come forward. In fact, I’ve
had trouble just getting some of my abductees in the Delaware
County area coming forward. I’ve only been able to get a few.
KING: Do you name them in the book?
Mr. JACOBS: I used pseudonyms for everyone in the book.
KING: Why wouldn’t you give us a chance to go interview them?
Mr. JACOBS: Well, in any kind of a medically-based or
psychologically-based study, pseudonyms are always used. And they
sign a release. They come to me and they want anonymity and I
guarantee it as long as I can use their story.
KING: So what we have to trust – and they are impressive – are
your credentials.
Mr. JACOBS: Right, but you don’t have to trust me or my
credentials. I certainly welcome anybody in the scientific
community to learn how to do this work and see if they can
reproduce my data.
KING: How are you treated by fellow faculty members at Temple?
Mr. JACOBS: Well, Temple University is a liberal institution.
They believe in academic freedom; allow me to do the kind of
research that I want to do.
KING: I know that, but how liberal, David? Do they say,
{Whistles
`Here comes David’?
Mr. JACOBS: Yes, some do. They do do that. Most of them are
fairly neutral. A few are inquiring. Most of them feel that this
is just something that they would leave to me, this is a- I’ve got
some strange streak in me or something like that, and they’re
interested, but not that interested.
KING: Are these definitely from some other planet?
Mr. JACOBS: They seem to be from- They’re not from Earth, from
what we can tell. I can’t exactly tell you they’re from another
planet – which is odd – because we really don’t know anything at
all about them.
KING: None of these people were taken on trips?
Mr. JACOBS: No, not that we know of.
KING: What do they look like?
Mr. JACOBS: Well, all the reports are basically the same, once
again. They’re small; they’re gray; they have huge black eyes – no
whites; no hair, no ears, no nose; only a slit for a mouth; a very
thin, narrow neck; thin frail bodies; thin arms and legs.
KING: Vice presidents of networks – little joke there. OK -
little joke – little humor – it’s Friday.

KING: The suggestion that aliens – forgive me for laughing, but
it’s kind of amusing to think about it – are borrowing Americans by
the carload for medical probes is, naturally, hard to swallow, no
matter how much serious study lies behind it. One skeptic is
Phillip Klass, a contributing editor to Aviation Week and Space
Technology. He has written his own critical analysis of abduction
reports. Phillip Klass joins our discussion with David Jacobs,
author of Secret Life: Firsthand Accounts of UFO Abductions.
Phillip, have you read David’s book?
PHILLIP KLASS, UFO Skeptic: No, I’ve not, but I’ve read many of
his papers. I heard him speak in Chicago. I attend most of the
UFO conferences.
KING: And?
Mr. KLASS: And you smile and you laugh but, in my opinion, this
is very serious business. It’s serious business because, if his
fantasies are fact, it is the greatest threat to the wellbeing of
the people of this nation – of this planet – since this country was
created.
KING: Why?

Mr. KLASS: Why? If aliens are invading our bedrooms,
impregnating our teenage girls; if they’re abducting little
children, cutting flesh samples out without even putting bandaids
on; if you’re not safe anywhere on the face of the earth – then it
is something that this nation needs to mobilize.
KING: So you think it’s a fantasy of Mr. Jacobs, or a fantasy
of the people he’s talked to?
Mr. KLASS: It’s a combination of both.
KING: Now this is a respected professor of history-
Mr. KLASS: Yes. Yes. Yes, indeed-
KING: -at a major American university.
Mr. KLASS: Indeed, but he has no training in psychotherapy
except what he has recently acquired. And what he is doing is
trading unwittingly – I’m not accusing him of malice – unwittingly
trading on psychologically disturbed people. As he explained in
one of his lectures – I think it was in Las Vegas or Pensacola; I
don’t recall – that many of his subjects are psychologically
disturbed people. They sometimes dream that they- or think that
they leave their bodies in the company of angels or deceased
relatives, that they- And, as a matter of fact, psychological tests
show that people who make claims of UFO abductions report far more
frequent sexual abuse as children. They also, more than ordinary
people, report that when they were children they saw strange
entities or creatures that nobody else saw.
KING: So these are people with problems?
Mr. KLASS: These are people, generally-
KING: All right.
David?
Mr. JACOBS: Well, it is actually sort of amazing, first of all,
that he’s sitting here and talking about my work and has not read
my book. I find that rather striking. I would have to say,
therefore, truly, everything that Mr. Klass has said is not true.
Mr. KLASS: So you have changed what you said at these
conferences? You have revised your papers?
Mr. JACOBS: I didn’t say anything of the sort in my papers,
either.
KING: OK, they’re not psychologically disturbed?
Mr. JACOBS: No, they are not. Obviously, everybody has
problems. Some people have more problems than others. In the
abduction phenomenon, it’s completely random. There are people who
are very well adjusted. There are people who are not well
adjusted. All of them have had a trauma that they try to deal
with. Yes, some of them have seen people – beings, whatever -
standing around their bed. They might interpret it as angels.
They might interpret it as ghosts, whatever. The fact is that
psychological testing has shown that abductees – a small number,
granted – were perfectly normal and exhibited no pathology. We
have psychiatrists and psychologist themselves who were abductees.
It’s just not true-
KING: Now wouldn’t your case, though, David, be helped for Mr.
Klass and others if a psychiatrist or a psychologist of renown came
forward?
Mr. JACOBS: As an abductee?
KING: `Dr. Peterson’ of New York city-
Mr. JACOBS: Oh, certainly. That would be fine.
KING: -who’s president of NYU; he was abducted. Phillip’s got
to back off if Dr. Peterson walks in.
Mr. JACOBS: That would be fine.
KING: Why don’t they come forward?
Mr. JACOBS: I can’t control them. This subject is steeped in
ridicule. It’s about as ridiculous as one can get in this society.
Anybody who goes forward is engaged in ridicule immediately,
particularly in the work situation. Why bother? Why would they do
that?
KING: Would you also agree, Phil, on the other side, that
skeptics-
Mr. KLASS: But I-
KING: Wait a minute- have always existed? If we were doing
this show in 1907 and Orville and Wilbur called in from a bike shop
in Kitty Hawk and said they flew, we’d all laugh.
Mr. KLASS: No. No.
KING: We wouldn’t?
Mr. KLASS: No, we wouldn’t, because there were a number of
other experiments. A Dr. Langley was experimenting with aircraft
just on the outskirts of Washington. But in view of David’s
denial, let me read verbatim what he said at the 1988 MUFON {sp?

`It is common for abductees to feel that they in some
way left their body, usually during the night in bed. When they
floated out of their bed they were often accompanied by someone who
they interpret as being a deceased relative or an angel.’

in one spot, and then seemingly the next instant they were in
another plane-’
KING: All right, I don’t want to read all that.
Do you want to respond?
Mr. JACOBS: Yes. No, well, that’s absolutely true. Yes, I
agree, that’s- That doesn’t mean that they’re psychologically
disturbed.
KING: That doesn’t mean they’re psychologically troubled, Phil.
It just means that’s the experience they shared in common with
other people who had it happen to them.
Mr. KLASS: Well, this- Pardon me- Pardon me-
KING: That in itself means psychologically troubled to you?
Mr. KLASS: I do have the quotes here, he referred to them
as psychologically disturbed. He also went on to say some of
these people get satisfaction in the fringe aspects of the popular
UFO scene-
KING: Some.
Mr. KLASS: -that they attend psychic conferences; that they
engage in channeling; and that some of them become channelers,
allegedly talking with ancient people and so on.
KING: OK, let’s get some calls in here.

Good evening. First to Mr.
Jacobs. Do you, yourself, have a firm belief in UFO’s? Secondly,
how much of this study was a commercial venture for you?
Mr. JACOBS: I have been involved with studying the UFO
phenomenon for about 27 years. A commercial venture? None of it
was a commercial venture. This is what’s called a negative
cashflow business. The money just flows out of your wallet.
There’s no funding for this, to speak of. There’s no science
organizations that will do anything about it.
KING: So you’re not making- If the book sells, you would make
money, but you have not to this point made money?
Mr. JACOBS: I will not make up the money that I have spent
doing this research.
KING: You don’t question that David believes?
Mr. KLASS: No. No, that I don’t question.
KING: In other words, David isn’t writing a hoax book?
Mr. KLASS: Oh, no.
KING: He interviewed people-
Mr. KLASS: Indeed, indeed, indeed. I think he’s doing a great
disservice to the people of this country.
KING: Should he reveal the names of all these people?
Mr. KLASS: That is up to them, but he could reveal his data to
fellow UFO believers and, in fact, there is a critical article in
the latest issue of the MUFON UFO journal criticizing David and Bud
Hopkins-
KING: Why don’t you, David?
Mr. KLASS: -for not making their data available.
KING: All right. David?
Mr. JACOBS: Well, what that article states, basically, is that
one of the UFO organizations wants cases and they’re wondering why
I don’t send them in the cases.
KING: It’s normal to want that.
Mr. JACOBS: Right, that’s true, and the problem is that many of
these accounts are really very personal in nature. However, I have
told the author of that article that I will participate.

during the STS-48 and this film showed several objects that moved
in rather bizarre ways. I wonder if either one of you have seen
this video?
KING: Phillip?
Mr. KLASS: No, I have not, but it certainly would have created
a great furor in the trade press and in the news media, and we
would have heard more about it.
Mr. JACOBS: No, I’m not familiar with the tape.
KING: Are you saying, Phillip, that if this were a real story
we’d have all known about it by now?
Mr. KLASS: If it was on CNN and really-
KING: No, I don’t mean this story-
Mr. KLASS: Oh.
KING: -I mean the whole UFO story.
Mr. KLASS: Well, let me say I would like to focus on the claims
of abduction because those who join up with David Jacobs and his
associates- It’s a cult. Their life will be accursed for as long
as they live because the dogma of this cult is that if you have
been abducted they will come back and get you, no matter whether
you put in burglar alarms, no matter where you are. They will
abduct your children-
KING: All right, let David respond to that.
Mr. KLASS: -when they grow up and become parents, they will
abduct the grandchildren.
KING: This is just a cult of people who are- These are
abductees? They don’t bother with strangers?
Mr. JACOBS: {Laughs
If it is a cult, they forgot to send me
my membership. I don’t enjoy this. This, as my colleague Bud
Hopkins says, is a daily dose of pain-
KING: You mean this?
Mr. JACOBS: Yes.
KING: Listening to criticism?
Mr. JACOBS: No, no, no, the abduction accounts. Most people
get down and pray every night that it never happens again. Nobody
likes this. Nobody wants it to have happened.
KING: How do you account, David, that no one outside has walked
by the house and seen the spaceship?
Mr. JACOBS: Well, we do have a few accounts of that but-
KING: There should be a lot of them-
Mr. JACOBS: This is correct.
KING: If there are millions, there should be police officers
all over the place-
Mr. JACOBS: Right.
KING: -seeing strange objects.
Mr. JACOBS: In fact, we should have known about this before we
knew about abductions. We should have had those reports early on,
and many of them.
KING: Why don’t we?
Mr. JACOBS: Well, we’re not exactly sure. We think that
there’s a technological aspect to this that requires-
KING: You mean they can hide their ship?
Mr. JACOBS: I don’t want to say that. I will say that people
will report that when they are floated up and out they say that
they’re being floated directly out, for instance, a closed window.
Now, of course, this is physically impossible – cannot happen.
KING: You don’t believe that, do you?
Mr. JACOBS: No, I DO believe that, because they all say that
and they’re clear that the window was not open. And they’ll say,
`I know this sounds crazy, but I think I’m floating out a closed
window.’ Now if one can float out a closed window, then there’s
all sorts of technological aspects to this that we don’t understand.
KING: We’ll get a break and have Phillip respond to that, and I

Mr. KLASS: Yes, it was on the tabloid showing a giant UFO-
KING: Are you questioning the son of Admiral Richard Byrd?
Mr. KLASS: I am, indeed. I am, indeed. I’m an admirer of his
father, but his father did not discover the North Pole, as he
claims. Admiral Peary beat him by many years-
KING: Discoverer of the South Pole then.

(Abductions in the Hudson Valley area of New York)

Over the past five years the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut
area have been the scene of a massive number of UFO sightings. The
numbers of reports are so great that I believe this area has the
highest number of raw UFO sighting reports in the entir e world. These
reports are documented in my book NIGHT SIEGE THE HUDSON VALLEY UFO
SIGHTS which I co-authored with the late Dr. J. Allen Hynek and Mr. Bob
Pratt.

I have been asked over the years by many UFO researchers if there
have been any close encounter-abduction type cases in the Hudson Valley
My answer to most was No.Only to few did I admite that there were
abduction cases and plenty of them. This denial of such cases was at
the request of Dr. Hynek since he wanted NIGHT SIEGE to be a
documentation of the many UFO reports in the Hudson Valley.D. Hynek
also wanted to keep these cases quiet until we had more data about the
sightings in the area.

With so many reports over the years and with the sighting still
continuing it was only a matter of time before the growing number of
Abduction cases in the Hudson Valley had to be dealt with.

To this date I have been contacted by at least 75 people who feel as
if they had more than a sighting. Of the 75 there are 25 that would be
suitable for further study.Of these twenty five ten come from
professional backrounds.All do not want any type o f publicity. I will
explore two of these cases in this article. At the witnesses request, I
have changed their names to protect them.I would also like to inform
the reader that Whitley Strieber, author of the best selling book
COMMUNION experiences took place in the Hudson Valley area. Since the
publication of his book many people have come forward with incredible
stories,people who would otherwise would have kept silent.

On July 2 1987 I received a call from a 36 year old woman from Toms
River New Jersey who I shall call Gail. Gail was very troubled on the
phone and insisted that she talk to me about a UFO related experience
that she had. During the last part of June (1 987) as she was lying
down on her bed, she felt some what uneasy as if someone was watching
her.The time was Ten PM. She then heard a voice say” We have come for
you..You will not be hurt.” She then realized that her entire body was
paralyzed and that she could only move her eyes.Gail was lying on her
back and noticed that three beings stood in the doorway to her bedroom.
She was alone in the house at the time,but does live there with her
seventeen year old daughter who was away visiting her father in Croton
Falls N.Y. Gail is divorced.

Three beings were dressed in something that looked like tightly
fitting jumpsuits and stood in a single row,one behind the other. The
leader, according to Gail seemed to have a problem getting into the
room. It was as if sometype of invisible sheild was blocking his way.
He lifted up his hand and pressed them against the invisible
sheild,then he put his hand>4^[e light in the hall was dim,and she
could not see their features. She noticed they were about five feet
tall with very long arms.

The leader then took some type of rod out from a side pocket and
turned the bottom of it. The rod then glowed with a green light and he
passed it over the doorway area. They then walked into the room without
any effort. As they entered the room still in a single file she noticed
that they had large heads and eyes that looked like a cats which
wrapped around their heads. She never heard them talk but heard all
kinds on buzzing noises in her head when the leader communicated with
the others.

Gail tried to scream but could not,she could only move her eyes.The
leader placed himself on her right side and then one of them went to
the foot of the bed and the other on the left side of the bed. The
beings on each side of her then placed their hand s under her head and
raised it up. She then noticed that the one on her left took a tube of
what like like a narrow roll of white cotton and started pushing it up
her left nostril.At that moment she felt extreme pain in her head and
then started to lose co nscious. She felt as if she was falling from a
great height,then she does not remeber anymore.

The next thing she recalls is waking up at 8am with a very bad
headache. As she walked to the bathroom her nose (both nostrils started
to bleed. She felt as if something was stuck up her nose,but nothing
was there. She looked in the bathroom mirror and noticed her nose was
swollen and puffy.She she noticed a rash on her neck,legs and slightly
on her arms.

She had hoped that the experience from that last night was a dream
and tried to block it out of her head. When her daughter arrived home
that night she told her about what happened.Gail told me that before
she even finsihed with her story her daughter s tarted shaking and then
told her that on the same night, about the same time she and her father
were followed by a UFO on route 116 near Croton Falls New York. She
described to her mother a large dark craft triangular in shape that
paced the car for five m inutes above tree top level.

I found this report very interesting since Croton falls is near the
border of Westchester and Putnam Counties in New York and that loney
route has been the site of more than one Close Encounter over the past
five years. I also found it interesting that both mother and daughter
had a experience with the paranormal at the same time.

There is more to this case than meets the eye. The daughter and
father accrording to my findings may have had as much as thirty minutes
missing time. If this is so and if both were abducted then the
experience happened to father,mother and daughter at t he same time!.

Gail’s rash and headaches continued for a few days then disappeared.
I plan to have Gail undergo hypnosis in the near future by a certified
psychologist. The story does not end here. Several weeks latter I
received a call from Gail telling me that it ha ppened again. She
said”Those creatures came back the same time and they did the same
thing”She continued”It was as if I was watching a movie of the first
time they came,they did exactly the same thing.Including having trouble
getting into the doorway to th e bedroom.My daughter was once again
away visiting her father.”

This case is still under study, but intial findings indicate that
both Gail and her daughter may have a history of interactions with the
intelligence behind the UFO phenomenon.

The second case I would like to cover took place on July 19th 1984
during the peak of activity in the Hudson Valley. the sighting involved
a Close Encounter, Missing time and abduction. If this was a real
expereince then the implications are fantastic. In all the cases that I
chose to study all the witnesses related the truth,or what they thought
was the truth.There is no doubt in my mind that their stories are not
hoaxes since none would have nothing to gain by going public with their
experiences.

Bill (as we shall refer to him) is a thirty two year old computer
programmer for a major scientific-engineering corportation that helped
design the major componets for the new NASA Hubble space telescope. On
July 19th 1984, at about ten-thirty pm, Bill w as leaving work and
heading west on Highway I-84. As he approached the Taconic Parkway ramp
in Dutchess county New York he noticed a very bright almost circular
object off to the north. The object seemed to be just sitting there in
the sky and the lights w ere very bright white. As he watched the
object it began to move and it was at that time he noticed a dark mass
behind it which blocked out the brighter light polluted night sky. He
continued to drive on 84 and soon lost sight of the object. He then
brushe d the entire incident off his mind and thought”Oh it must have
been those guys from Stormville flying those planes faking a UFO” He
then drove on listening to his radio.

He then turned off the route 52 exit near Stormville New York and
began traveling north. The time now was close to eleven PM and the
roads were quite desolate. He came to a clearing where there was a
large field and noticed a large dark mass sitting in the field about
200 yards from the road. At first he thought that it was a new home,but
then he knew there was no house there since he went this way just last
night and the field was empty. As a matter of fact Bill drove this way
home and passed the field everynight and never saw a house there.

Bill slowed down the car”This thing was huge and dark”,he said.The
strange thing was it was almost the same shape as a big barn,but it
seemed more tapered toward the sides and very smooth. As he watched,
the dark object rose into the air without a sound . This really upset
Bill since he was the only car on the road. The object then rose higher
and higher. All that Bill could see was the dark mass slowly rising
into the air. It was now about twice as high as the trees and it moved
slowly towards Bill who w as still in the car. Bills radio then started
to sound “funny” he said that the music on the radio sounded like a
tape player ,playing music with very weak batteries. The voices and the
music sounded out of tune.

Bill then put his car into gear and sped away from the object. His
heart was racing as he drove up the road at about fifty miles and
hour.Bill then lost sight of the object and continued to drive at a
slower rate of speed.After several minutes he notice d a glow up ahead
over a hill. As he approached the crest of the hill there the object
was! It was about 300 feet above the trees and was all lit up with rows
of white and yellow lights. He then stopped his car and turned off the
engine and the lights. He was hoping that who ever was in the thing
would not see him. The object then turned off its lights and he could
see this huge dark mass slolwy drifting toward him. The object passed
right over his car,he could now see its shape,it was triangular. Bill
told me”I don’t want to make light of this,but the ship looked like one
of the star destroyers in Star Was” The underside was the same
shape,although I did not see the top.

The object passed over Bill, as he looked up he saw circular areas
underneath the UFO. These circular areas seemed to be like tunnels
leading into the object. Inside these circular tunnels there was a
white flashing,similar to the flashing of a white st robe light (we had
several reports of this white flashing effect from past CE cases in the
Hudson Valley, also the circular areas have been reported numerous
times before). Bill told me there was no sound.He estimated its size to
be at least 300 feet from end to end.

Then something strange took place. The last thing Bill remembers is
watching it go over his car,he did not see it leave. The next thing he
knows he is at the bottom of the hill 600 feet from the position he was
when the UFO passed over his parked car. T he object itself was gone.
He was not sure what time it was when he watched the object passed over
his car,but he feels it was most likely about eleven-thirty PM. The
time was now tweleve -fifteen. He started his drive home upset and with
a very stiff neck .

When he arrived home he told his wife about his sighting. She was
worried to begin with since he was almost and hour late. That night
Bill woke up yelling in the night”saying get away from me!” His wife
said that the nightmares continued for a while at least twice a week .
Bill told to me that the he was not sure of what the nightmare was, but
he knew something was after him. As time went on Bill was afriad to
drive at night alone. He even had to insist to his boss not to put him
on the evening or night shift at his job. Finally Bill wanted to find
out more since the experience of the UFO and the fearful dreams
tormented him. It wasen’t until 1987 that Bill contacted me and told me
his story. Bill Had seen Budd Hopkins(author of the book INTRUDERS) on
a n umber of shows and asked me if would be possible for him to be
hypnotized. Hearing Budd on TV talk about the abductions made him
fearful and he wanted to make sure that this did not happen to him. I
arranged to have Bill meet with a certified psychologist that I
occasionally use to perform hypnosis.The following is a brief
transcript of Bills encounter under hypnosis. He first related seeing
the object on 84 and then the object in the field and then in the sky
over the hill, it is then that his voice become s fearful.

Bill” I see it now its that thing! Its coming in my direction!. I am
going to turn off my car lights. maybe then wont see me and go away.
Its huge……Oh my God what is it!. Theres someone standing in the
road he is now walking toward the car. Who are yo u!…… He’s saying
something to me “don’t be fearful we need you…you have been
selected”. Selected for what,get away!. I feel strange like I am
floating in the air,its all dark. I am now on this table and these guys
are all around me,six of them. Two a re at my head and two on the
sides(two on each side). My legs and arms are like dead weights I can’t
move them.

(Bill is then asked to describe them)

“These guys are small, large heads with round eyes,the eyes are all
black I can see no pupils in them,they remind me of sharks eyes. They
are dressed in sometype of black and white skin type suits. I can’t see
their hands. The one at my head is moving so me type of device that
looks like a portable car vacuum cleaner up and down the left side of
my head. It vibrates my entire head,it feels like a drill going through
my head… STOP! it hurts.. He tells me that they are looking for
something and found it.

I now can feel my legs and arms they are allowing me to get up. They
are very small only up to the bottom part of my chest (Bill is six foot
one inch) The others are now over some type of pannel. Two of them are
leading me by the arms. I asked them where they were from”The one on my
right leading said”We are from here” I didn’t understand the answer. I
asked him if they planned to let me go. he replied “Yes but we will see
you again” He told me that they need us because they have trouble
living in our wor ld. He said they come from a place which is very ugly
when compared to our world and they would rather live here,but can’t. I
told him that I would remember and tell every one about this. He said I
would remember in time but there are forces in your own(?) which will
stop you from telling anyone about this experience.” Bill then found
himself back in the car. Bill now recalls every aspect of the
experience. It was a very real experience to him.

There are about a dozen other cases similar to Bill’s and Gail’s.In
The Hudson Valley area.Can all of these people who have had UFO
abductions and sightings in this part of the country be experiencing
sometype of mass hysteria? I don’t think so. The evid ence indicates
that there is some type of non-human intelligence at work. If the case
histories of the total experiences are true then we all better work
together to get to the bottom of this.

In 1987 Peter Gersten a Peekskill New York attorney put together a
new organization called CONTACT. Peter who is known for his work in
obtaining UFO related documents from goverment agencies organized
CONTACT in response to the great number of Close Enc ounter cases in
the New York area. Peter had some of the top UFologist flown in from
all over the country to meet at his Peekskill home. Amoung them were
Tracy Torme, Budd Hopkins, Jim Mc Cambell and this author. On September
27 CONTACT organized a free UF O public conference in Brewster New
York. The theme of the conference was to explore the adbuction
phenomena and the possibility that some people have been in contact
with a non-human intelligence.Speakers at the conference included John
Keel. Whitley Stri eber and Budd Hopkins. Over 900 people attended the
12 hour conference and 200 filled out forms who felt they had a contact
experience.

Then during the first several months of 1988 Peter Gersten dissolved
CONTACT and as of the date of this publication CONTACT is no longer in
existence. The reasons for this are not clear but Peter still maintains
a UFO Hotline where callers can get up to date information about UFO
sightings. The caller can also leave their name and report their own
