It’s not a damage of 1 million dollar for repair. It’s 1 million dollars for setting the system up correctly which was necessary anyway. This guy isn’t a computer nerd. He isn’t even very advanced. Fact is that the pentagon had a widely open security-hole. They don’t even know who was surfing the systems for years. Embarrassing that the pentagon have been open for remote operation software. If I’d do something like that as a CIO in a small company I’d be fired.

FFS. The guy managed to access Pentagon and NASA servers over a dial-up MoDem from his bedroom. He managed this because there were no passwords set up. Million dollars of damage, my arse. Whoever was in charge of IT security needs sacking and Gary should get his/her job. This case is all bollocks for the sake of face-saving.

God Bless him HIRE him….he KNOWS the Truth…….

Gary was familiar with the “Full Disclosure Project” headed by Steve Greer in America and was interested in snooping around in the Pentagon to find proof of free energy technology. This is serious shit and Gary’s a hero. The Pentagon is probably terrified he will expose what he found. Research Steven Greer / Full Disclosure Project – they are going to great lengths to hide something.

Gary didn’t try to hurt anyone, worth remembering. He has only exposed a faulty system. Use him don’t abuse him – get things into perspective and remember his condition. Surely the US government can recognise a real threat when they see one. He is a potential asset, unlike Bin Laden for example who they have failed to lock up.

cant belive this hacker is from my own country
(scotland) wooooooooooo

I do think that Gary should be treated like anyone else though, he seems to have been let off the hook very easily so far in my opinion. I fear that if it had been me i would be getting water-boarded as we speak.

@fuunguus Dont you think that America is the cause for most of the negativity that we have in the world? I think they deserve all the negative media coverage they can get in the West and Europe. In Iran it goes a little over-board but no more over-board than how Iran is depicted in the US bullshit media outlets like Fox, Cnn, etc.

@SororThothma lol i agree, i hope our military hires him
August 9th, 2010 at 11:57 pm
USA should say thank you. he could have taken vital data from US military. Thanks to his job, they strengthen their security policy. Also, Gary has saved no data locally. And now, every christmas, we can think about those 20-30 non terrestrial US officers, who work somewhere in the Universe. He could have been really worst for US. He could have downloading everything he has done and also have a more offensive behaviour with several landlines, several proxies and download and print.

As I understand it, the crux of the US case was that he caused damage on each computers he visited. They would have a hard time proving that, as he just “walked” in through open doors (no effing passwords set up), looked around, and left. He left no nasty surprises like viruses, etc.
Wrong to do it, yes, but criminal to let strangers in Pentagon and NASA computers–on a dial-up no less. Slap his wrists, but fire security and hire competent replacements.

Gary is a twat. His condition suddenly materialised when he was caught.
August 10th, 2010 at 1:35 am
@MrLoneydude lol well calling him a ‘cracker’ on the news wouldn’t come off very well….
August 10th, 2010 at 2:32 am
stop calling it hack !!! hackers are people that create stuff, like sites and programs crackers are dose who CRACK other peoples “creations”
August 10th, 2010 at 2:43 am
@fuunguus I agree completely. I watch RT news as part of a balanced diet of news, but they do seem to be very biased against us here. Thanks for noting that, too.
August 10th, 2010 at 2:58 am
It’s a fat, english, Maggie Gyllenhall! (mispelled?)
August 10th, 2010 at 3:10 am
I like RT, it takes up a lot of controversial stuff that other news channels wont. BUT, RT loves talking about America and often (always?) in a negative way. I’ve noticed this, probably many more. Not that I am American, I am European, but seriously RT what’s up with this bullshit? I don’t find your news casts very credible because of this.
August 10th, 2010 at 3:14 am
Speaking as an American, I say set him free, or hire him. All he did was to clearly expose that our US cyber security is woefully inadequate. And, it should be added, the US Gov PAYS people to attempt to break US security networks as part of an effort to find holes and weak spots and then render them impervious to cyber attack.
So what he SHOULD do is to send a $25mil bill to Obama and demand payment for expert services rendered, and then offer to fix the problems for an extra $5mil.

@tag7100 As for Aussies standing up against government censorship, thank god there’s still enough of us with a spine to do it! And I sure would hope Americans would do the same. In fact it’s high time they did! Politicians (and their corporate sponsors) are giving themselves more and more power and the people are getting less and less. Are things improving under this system? And if you think that’s a conspiracy theory then you really are either asleep or living on another planet!
August 10th, 2010 at 4:19 am
@tag7100 Well he was 34 at the time and has a mental disorder. “Seeking justice”!!! Ha ha, since when has America been interested in justice? If that were the case people like Bush, Cheney, Kissinger Bryzynski et al would all be in jail. And where did I even MENTION Australia? The pussies in my govt just gave Israel a sniveling, apologetic pat on the wrist for having their agents forge our country’s passports in order to commit murder! Talk about having security breached! There’s no justice!
August 10th, 2010 at 5:19 am
@glazinq A 44 year old is by no definition a “kid”. And I wouldn’t say a government that had their security breached and is seeking justice is “putting on a show”. Name one country that wouldn’t want this guy tried.
Australia’s leaders tried to restrict legal porn and your countrymen went crazy and hacked government sites in protest. Now THAT is putting on a show. I’m not saying US citizens wouldn’t protest, but don’t act like your country’s record is spotless.
August 10th, 2010 at 5:23 am
@tag7100 It was a kid in his bedroom dude Get over it. The kid did the US a favor. They should be giving him a medal and paying for his services. But noooo, once again the US has to put on a show and make an ass of itself. Let’s face it, the US is just one big f***k up after another! One big DANGEROUS fuck up. The people running it deserve nothing but contempt and ridicule!
August 10th, 2010 at 6:12 am
@glazinq You’re a conspiracy theorist scared shitless of “chemtrails”, and yet you make fun of a government getting antsy when their security system’s hacked?
